Erin is Manager of Health, Wellbeing and Performance at the dance sector industry body, One Dance UK. She is also Manager of the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science, a body dedicated to providing accessible and evidence based healthcare and support for dancers. 

 

She is also a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh investigating the development and deployment of psychological skills for mental health and career success in dance.

Her main research interests include dance talent development, safeguarding and abuse prevention, mental health, and psychological skills in dance.

Dr Nordin-Bates is an Associate Professor at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences (GIH) in Stockholm, Sweden. She is also a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a Fellow of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science, who also rewarded her with the 2023 Dance Educator Award.

 

Sanna did her PhD in dance psychology with prof. Jennifer Cumming at the University of Birmingham (2002-2005). Her research has mostly focused on dance, and has been presented in 50+ journal articles. In 2023 Sanna published the first textbook in the area, Essentials of Dance Psychology, with Human Kinetics.

 

Besides her work at GIH, she teaches psychology to students at the Royal Swedish Ballet School and hosts regular courses for dance educators.
