Hey everyone,


We need your help! The SPRINT Project are looking for participants to take part in their latest research studies. Getting involved is a great way to contribute to important findings that could help shape future developments in these fields.


You can benefit by supporting us in gathering data that will inform findings to improve mental health and performance in dance and sport. Your participation is incredibly valuable and can make a real difference! 


There are a variety of studies currently running, covering everything from dance, team sports to esports, and postgraduate student-athletes. No matter your background, if you fit the criteria, we’d love for you to take part.

Compassion, performance, and mental health in team sport  


Self-compassion is beneficial for performance and mental health, but little is known about compassion in team sports. 


Are you: 

  • a team sport athlete?

  • aged 18-60years?

  • competing in the UK? 

  • have at least 1 years' experience in your sport?

All participants will be offered the chance to be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win an online voucher. 



 

How do higher education dance students understand and experience self-compassion in their dance training? 


Are you: 

  • a full-time undergraduate student currently enrolled on a dance degree program in the UK? 

  • Aged 18-30years? 

  • Injury-free or have a mild injury that does not interfere with your ability to train and perform? 


If yes, then this important question can be answered by you! 


As a participant, you will take part in a one-time online interview, providing you with the opportunity to discuss your thoughts, perspectives, and experiences related to self-compassion in your dance practice. 

 

Why Participate?  Because you will provide valuable insights into the role of self-compassion in this dance training setting. This information will help to shape and inform future psychological support resources and educational materials on self-compassion for dance students. 

 

Additionally, you will receive a £20 Amazon gift voucher as a thank you for your involvement in the research!

How can dance teachers best support their students around self-harm? 


Currently, little is known about the experiences of dance students around self-harm.  

So, participating in this study would help us to understand more about dance students’ experience in an attempt to identify how to best support them in dance education.  


Are you: 

  • a UK-based dance student?  

  • aged 16-24 years?  


Then this study might be for you! You can take part regardless of whether they have ever personally self-harmed. 


Are there any risks to taking part? Self-harm can be a sensitive topic. Sources for additional support can be found within the study but also the support section on our website.  Support | The Sprint Project


What are the benefits of taking part? You will help us understand more about self-harm in Dance and be entered into a prize draw for 9 gift cards (£10-50).

Are you an e-sport athlete? 


If yes, and you are aged 18+ then you can help us to find out about how e-sports athletes’ use imagery in relation to performance and stress, and this may improve how we support e-sport athletes’ performance and wellbeing in the future! 


Imagery refers to an experience you can create or re-create in your mind using your different senses (e.g., seeing yourself going for a walk and how it feels to move your body). It is a popular strategy used to enhance learning and performance in sport, but little is known about how e-sport athletes’ use and perceive imagery.  


You will have the option to be entered into a prize draw if you take part. Winning amounts will be 2 x £50, 2 x £20 and 1 x £10 Amazon vouchers! 



 

How can we enhance performance and well-being in student-athletes? 


Sport participation has the potential to protect its participants from mental health difficulties and may also promote mental wellbeing.  

 

However, many athletes and dancers experience mental health difficulties and poor wellbeing.  

 

Therefore, we are interested in understanding what factors contribute to mental health in this population. More specifically, we are investigating the relationship between imagery experiences, emotional regulation strategies, trait competitive anxiety, well-being, and psychological distress in student athletes.  

 

If you are: 

  • UK based university student-athlete  

  • Aged 18-30years 

  • In full time education 

 

Then you can help us to develop a new intervention for enhancing performance and well-being in student-athletes. 

 

You can also choose to be entered into a prize draw following completion of the questionnaires. Winning prize amounts will be 2 x £50, 4 x £25, and 10 x £10 One4All vouchers.
