Are you wondering what the SPRINT Project team have been up to lately? Last week, SPRINT Project Post Doctoral Researcher Dr Georgia Bird flew to New Orleans in Louisiana, USA, to attend the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPSPA) annual international conference.

The annual conference was held from the 6th to the 8th of June, at the Sheraton Hotel.
Whilst at the NASPSPA conference, Georgia presented her research on emotion regulation and student-athlete mental health. Through this research, she investigated whether the emotion regulation strategies that student athletes report using explain the stability of their mental health profiles over the course of an academic year.
The presentation was part of a symposium entitled 'Emotions, Emotion Regulation, and Mental Health in Sport and Performance Settings: Directions for Researchers and Practitioners'. The symposium was organised by Morgan Milne, PhD Researcher in the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham, and Dr Katherine Tamminen, Associate Professor in Sport Psychology at the University of Toronto. Other presenters in the symposium included Morgan Milne, Dr Katherine Tamminen, and Dr Catherine Sabiston, Professor of Physical Activity and Mental Health at the University of Toronto.
