Michelle and Grace secured Public Engagement with Research (PER) funding from the University of Birmingham. This funding is dedicated to support researchers in connecting with organisations, charities and institutions as partners in their research projects, allowing research to be wider reaching and to generate significant impact.
Michelle will form an advisory group to support her research project which is focused on creating a mental skills training intervention for dancers. The PER funding will enable Michelle to reimburse freelance dancers, dance teachers, researchers, and psychologists for offering their input and insights in the research process.
Grace will use the PER funding to launch a stigma-challenging poetry e-book and share the associated literary analysis at a number of up-coming online and in-person events. The poetry e-book was created following a public workshop which explored participating individuals' unique experiences of home and homelessness through the creation of poetry.
Georgia recently successfully defended her PhD thesis in a PhD viva at the University of Birmingham. This was examined by Professor Andy Lane from the University of Wolverhampton and Dr Matthew Bird from the University of Lincoln. Georgia’s PhD focused on the investigation of a person-centered approach to understanding athlete mental health and associated emotion regulation. Huge congratulations Dr Bird!
