As the 2nd National Survey of Safeguarding and Abuse Prevention in Dance officially closes, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part, whether by completing the survey, sharing it with colleagues, or helping to raise awareness across the UK dance sector.

Your voices and support have been vital in helping us understand how safeguarding practices in dance have evolved since our first national survey in 2021. Together, in collaboration with One Dance UK and the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science, we are building a clearer picture of how dance organisations are working to protect dancers from maltreatment and promote their well-being, health, and human rights.

What Happens Next?

We are now in the process of analysing the survey data and are already seeing important insights begin to emerge. Our aim is to share initial findings on our website in autumn 2025. These findings will help inform policy, practice, and future research to support a safer dance environment - one where all dancers have a right to feel safe and supported.

Stay Connected

If you’d like to stay updated on this project and be the first to hear about the findings, we invite you to subscribe to our website at www.sprintproject.org. Subscribers will also receive updates on our wider research in dance, including opportunities to get involved as a participant or advisory group member.

Why This Matters

This survey is more than just data collection. It’s about listening to the dance community and working together to create environments where safeguarding is not just about preventing harm, but also about promoting dancers’ well-being and rights. By identifying what’s working well and where challenges remain, we can support dance leaders, safeguarding officers, and policymakers in making meaningful, lasting change.
