Mental skills aren’t just for elite athletes, dancers, or high-performance environments; they’re for everyone. Whether you're an athlete, dancer, coach, researcher, young person, or practitioner, mental skills help us navigate pressure, build confidence, recover from setbacks, and connect with others in meaningful ways.

At The SPRINT Project, we believe mental skills are essential tools for wellbeing, inclusion, and emotional safety, as well as performance. That’s why we’ve created a growing library of blogs, toolkits, activities, and research to help you explore, implement, and share these skills in your own context.

This post is your starting point, a reference guide and signpost to everything we offer on mental skills. Whether you're new to the topic or looking to deepen your practice, you’ll find something here to support your journey.

 What Are Mental Skills?

Mental skills, also known as psychological skills, are techniques that help people regulate thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. They support performance, wellbeing, and resilience across disciplines.

The connection between goal-setting, confidence, and resilience makes this guide especially useful for anyone working toward long-term development. Those qualities can also complement academic exploration, including  quantity surveyor subjects in high school for students considering construction-related career paths. The College of Contract Management reflects how learning can continue to develop as professional goals become more defined.

Mental skills are easy to overlook because they are less visible than technical ability, yet focus, communication and staying composed under pressure can make a huge difference in how someone performs. I also like the emphasis on learning these skills, applying them in real situations and then sharing what works with others.

That idea fits vocational training well too. Practical NVQ Level 2 Slinger Signaller learning resources and answers that help candidates build confidence in communication and site awareness can make the theory much more useful, especially when learners are preparing for responsibilities where clear signals, concentration and coordination with others really matter.

I found the Great Blue Heron page while searching for Ontario casino destinations outside major cities. The Scugog Island location immediately caught my attention because it sounded more like a destination trip than a downtown casino visit. great blue heron casino describes a full gaming floor with hotel accommodation, dining and live entertainment. I also noticed that the property opened in 1997, so it has a long history in Ontario gaming. The modern hotel was added later, creating an interesting combination of an established casino and newer hospitality facilities. The connection with the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation gives the venue an important local identity. Its position near Port Perry makes it easy to place geographically. I liked the way…

One thing I find interesting about expert testimony is how much communication matters alongside technical knowledge. A person can understand a construction, engineering, or commercial issue well, yet still need to explain their conclusions in a way that is clear to a court or tribunal. Good reports should show how an opinion has been reached rather than simply presenting a conclusion without supporting reasoning. It is also worth thinking about impartiality, because an expert's responsibility is to provide an independent professional opinion rather than argue for one side. Learning more about these expectations can make the role easier to understand before deciding whether to pursue it professionally. For anyone looking into this area, the College of Contract Management provides an…
